This is the best song I’ve ever heard by an artist from Luxembourg – and yes, it may well be the only one. It may also be the most romantic video I’ve seen.
Jana Bahrich likes to be known as “the loudest voice in a very quiet country” though it’s not very loud on this “simple song about being in love with your best friend.”
The lyrics – and video – tell the story of a couple who were “kids when we first met” and now find themselves “half-drunk on a twin-size bed.” And it’s true.
Jana explains: “For years timing got in the way. I got in my own way and then finally it worked out. I wanted to write a song that reflected the feeling of leaning into vulnerability, a song that embraces telling the people you love what they mean to you and truly meaning it.”
Having started out as a duo when she was 18, Bahrich now records solo at the age of 21 but still under the original band name Francis Of Delirium.
Also a visual artist – she creates all the artwork for her records using linocuts and ink printing – she co-directed the video for this new single which, for some reason, makes me want to cry.
I see from the comments that I am not alone; neither in doing so, nor in wondering why.
