By far my highlight of Glastonbury was this performance by the Mary Wallopers – a virulently anti-capitalist anti-British bunch of folkies from the Irish border town of Dundalk.
It’s clearly a place where the local hairdresser has cultivated an idiosyncratic style.
In an effort to learn a little more about them, beyond the fact that they feature a pair of brothers, Charles and Andrew Hendy and that their primary inspiration is reacting to poverty, I found their statement of intent on their website:
“We play ballads til our heads hurt and then we go at it again. Please help we are not well.”
