John Holt is one of my favourite singers and Police In Helicopter is a song that would probably be one of my Desert Island Discs.

John Holt came to fame as a young man in the vocal harmony group The Paragons and wrote and sang their biggest crossover hit, The Tide Is High (later famously covered by Blondie).

He also enjoyed a huge hit with the rocksteady classic Wear You To The Ball, which enjoyed a second run of success thanks to toaster U-Roy, whom he discovered and set on the road to DJ stardom.

But he really came into his own as a solo artist, finding huge success singing soul covers on the classic reggae album 1000 Volts Of Holt after Trojan Records brought him to Britain.
