Tappi Tíkarrass – Dúkkulísur (Dolls)

25th March 2026 · 1980s, 1982, Music

I just stumbled across this great performance by a band called Tappi Tíkarrass, featuring an all-too-familar face and voice from Iceland.

When I say ‘great’ I may just mean mesmerising, compelling, riveting, enthralling; at any point it’s hard to look away.

You might just recognise the bonkers teenager on the left with the funny make-up and funny clothes.

She would have been 16 at the time, I do believe, and she went on to make quite a name for herself. And to become arguably even more bonkers.

The performance was shot in 1982 performance in the band’s home town of Reykjavík in Iceland.

The title of the first song, Dúkkulísur, means ‘Dolls’ in English, and the second song, ‘Hrollur’, means ‘Chills’.

But what, do I hear you ask, does the band name Tappi Tíkarrass mean?

I can help you there. In further evidence of the bonkersness for which that young woman would become notorious, it means: Plug The Bitch’s Ass.

Of course it does.
