Bob Dylan – Subterranean Homesick Blues

24th May 2026 · 1960s, 1965, Music

Happy Birthday Bob! Today Dylan turns 85 so I’m posting one of his numerous all-time classics from back in 1965.

I didn’t discover songs like this for a while because my introduction to Bob came with his hit single Knocking On Heaven’s Door when I was 15.

Even then I didn’t really delve into his catalogue; oddly, I don’t remember anyone at my school ever playing Dylan.

So it was not until his mid-Seventies trilogy of Desire, Planet Waves and Blood On The Tracks that I really took notice.

Even then, I didn’t go back to the beginning, and it would be many more years before I discovered his mid-Sixties trilogy of Blonde On Blonde, Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited.

Today I’m torn between which of those are my favourites, but it really doesn’t matter because we don’t have to choose a single one when we can listen to them all.

But this has always been one of them.
