Moldy Peaches – Anyone Else But You

29th November 2022 · 2000s, 2007, Music

News today that Moldy Peaches have reunited reminded me of this oddball hit from the film Juno. As someone says in the comments: “The voices are SO cringey. The lyrics are SO corny. Yet the song is SO perfect.”

Adam Green and Kimya Dawson recently reformed their six-piece “anti-folk” band for the premiere of a rockumentary called Meet Me In The Bathroom.

They came to attention with The Strokes on what was both bands’ first world tour in 2001. Their Rough Trade debut caught the ear with its combination of off-key harmonising against a squall of fuzz guitar and quirky titles like Downloading Porn With Davo and Who’s Got The Crack?

But it was this song’s appearance in Juno six years later that made Moldy Peaches’ irresistibly ramshackle amateurishness go viral.

And also their live festival performances, which were half children’s party and half pantomime; and a previous brief  documentary.
