Sofi Tukker – Good Time Girl

Dance duo Sofi Tukker’s banger Good Time Girl is the soundtrack to Paolo Sorrentino’s brilliant TV drama The New Pope.

I’ve spent so much time trying to persuade people to watch The Young Pope and its sequel The New Pope and encountered so much resistance, most of it rooted in prejudice.

Partly, I think, it’s prejudice against religion in general, and partly prejudice against Catholicism in particular.

And partly prejudice against Jude Law, who seems to rub a lot of people up the wrong way.
Me too, to be honest – but this is the role he was born to play.

It’s a visually opulent and intellectually complex drama that is both a satire of the Vatican (corruption, politics, perversion) and a really quite profound theological investitaion of faith, asking questions about the role of religion in the world today.

Being the creation of Paolo Sorrentino, it’s filled with surreal touches and humour, both of which are evident in the ever-evolving title sequences.

This is one from the second series, The New Pope (starring John Malkovich), featuring the theme song Good Time Girl by Sofi Tukker featuring Charlie Barker.

It’s a bit of a banger (to use a word I would never actually use).
