This is everything I like in electronica: a sinister undercurrent, a throbbing pulse, a driving rhythm, punctuated by modular flares and strange noises.
Scam is the electro-pop project of Icelandic composers and producers Herdís Stefánsdóttir and Salka Valsdóttir and they only released their first single, Mentally Gone, in April 2026.
This is the female duo’s second, See Feel Touch Die, written during the series of earthquakes that shook Iceland and caused the musicians to feel simultaneously uneasy and strangely excited.
The song feels ritualistic, suspenseful and exciting: a testament to the relentlessness of mother nature in both her repetition and unpredictability.
Stefánsdóttir had written lyrics during a visit in Los Angeles where she experienced extreme droughts and wild fires – lyrics which Valsdóttir felt inspired by and ultimately used as building blocks for the song’s lyrical content.
Their only live show to date took place at Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavik last year and made them an instant cult name, as well as earning them an invitation to play their first European concert at Roskilde this summer.
I look forward to them coming here.
