The Fat White Family return with a career-spanning live album recorded in a single day, led by this new recording of Hits Hits Hits.

I haven’t closely followed the fortunes of the Fat White Family but this shimmering ballad is very much to my taste.

It floats along in a narcotic haze like something the Brian Jonestown Massacre might make, though they might have chosen different subject matter.

Hits Hits Hits is about the notoriously abusive relationship between Ike and Tina Turner, set to music that somehow reminds me of early Stones stuff circa Satanic Majesties.

I’m not so sure about Tina being commanded to “spread that nutbush wide” but it’s not going to stop my enjoyment.

The song originally appeared on their second album, Songs For Our Mothers, in 2016 and this version is taken from a new live collection, Konk If You’re Lonely – for which all 13 career-spanning tracks were recorded in a single day.
