Mick Harvey & Amanda Acevedo – The Stolen Fire
14th October 2026 · 1970, 1970s, 2020s, 2026, Folk, Music, Singer-songwriterMick Harvey and Amanda Acevedo team up again for the third time with a new album of duets called Psychedelia In White.
When it comes to duets, you can’t beat the old ‘beauty and the beast’ approach – a hoary old bloke with a rasping vocal and a sweet young woman with the voice of an angel.
Think of Johnny and June,, Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra, Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes, Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell.
Mick Harvey and Amanda Acevedo are firmly in that category.
The Stolen Fire comes from the forthcoming third album from the former Bad Seed and his Mexican associate.
Psychedelia in White is the splendidly titled successor to their first album Phantasmagoria in Blue; their second collection Golden Mirrors was predominantly reinterpretations of existing tunes.
They say the overarching theme of the new album is “to find a safe space within the chaos and confusion of the outside world,” and there is certainly a calming effect to listening to this song.
Amanda Acevedo met Mick Harvey several years ago in Mexico City while Harvey was on tour with P.J. Harvey, but it wasn’t until 2021 that their current project burst into life.
