Moist Limb – Trone Noir

26th July 2022 · 2020s, 2022, Music

I have fairly strong feelings that comedy and music should be kept well apart. Otherwise you end up before long with Ernie and Shaddap You Face. This is the exception.

Worst of all are those old pop parodies by ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic and The Barron Knights. This is the exception that proves the rule.

If you loved Wet Leg’s video for Chaise Longue, then prepare yourself for this cleverly conceived and perfectly produced goth-metal parody – Trone Noir by Moist Limb.

It’s made by a bloke from Spokane in Washington State called Jon Swanstrom who’s an actor, film maker, vintage clothing merchant and yoga teacher.

That’s it. I can’t tell you any more, except that if you don’t speak French (or can’t guess), Trone Noir means “Black Throne”.

Let’s not go overboard: like most parodies, this does not stand up to repeated viewing. But it’s worth watching once. It’s accurate, and it’s funny.
