When it comes to jazz and classical music, the examples I like best are when they incorporate subtle electronic undertones. That’s the case here with German composer Ralph Heidel, though that element is almost  subliminal on this track, Wake Up.

It’s a collaboration with a legendary Japanese composer called Jun Miyake and Lisa Harres’s video includes an encounter between the two in Miyake’s New York studio.

The tune is anchored by Berlin-based Heidel’s hypnotic piano progression and warm saxophone, evolving into an airy improvisation by Miyake’s flugelhorn, culiminating in an otherworldly finale.

The track is from Heidel’s forthcoming third studio album “anyways.onto better things”, due in February.
