Twinkle Brothers – Mob Fury

29th September 1986 · 1980s, 1986, Music, Reggae

Revolution on the streets never sounded sweeter than when The Twinkle Brothers lent their smooth harmonies to a song about Mob Fury.

Looking at the news footage of US cities today, it seems an appropriate time to post this tune, released in 1986 on the label of legendary Brixton sound system king Jah Shaka.

With its heavy roots riddim, overlaid with the smooth harmonies of brothers Norman and Ralston Grant, it harks back to the classic mid-Seventies era of conscious reggae.

The Twinkle Brothers started out way way back in 1962 and are still going strong today, which has to make them one of the longest-serving bands with their core membership intact.

Fans of their early work might be surprised to hear what they sound like today: for the past 30 years they have been fusing roots reggae with traditional Polish music, collaborating with Trebunie Tutki.
