Waxahatchee releases a plaintive slice of Americana as her first new music since the acclaimed album Tigers Blood.

One of the gigs I was saddest to miss over the summer was Waxahatchee at the Forum. So this new video, with a new song set to a montage from this year’s gigs, is making me miss it all over again.

Waxahatchee – aka Katie Crutchfield – is one of several women at the forefront of Americana, including her idol Lucinda Williams (also one of my favourites), Angel Olsen, Jenny Lewis and Alynda Segarra of Hurray For The Riff Raff.

This is the first new music she’s released since putting out her album Tigers Blood. Earlier in the year I posted my favourite song from that album, Right Back To It, and this month she performed it at the AMAs, where it was also nominated for Song of the Year.
